Silke and Wolfgang. Two guests who have become familiar faces over the years. In the past, they would drive here, with horsepower and a passion for Dolomite roads. Today, they travel by train. By choice. Letting the journey set the pace. From their home to Bolzano by rail, then up to Oberbozen by cable car, and finally the charming narrow-gauge train to Wolfsgruben.
We send them their RittenCard digitally in advance, giving them free access to public transport. No stress, no tickets to worry about. Just rolling hills, fresh air and that subtle feeling of already arriving along the way.
This time, they stayed more. On the terrace, in the garden, by the lake. Sometimes hiking, deep into the quiet woods. Meeting no one. Just birdsong, leaves underfoot, and the wide sky above.
And then, as they leave, Wolfgang says something. Softly, almost casually, but it lingers.
“I think we were truly away. Not just geographically.”
Yes. That’s what lake time feels like.
