As a water plant, I help keep the ecosystem in balance by absorbing nutrients like phosphates and nitrates. This helps purify the water.
I also provide shelter for fish and small aquatic insects.
But sometimes, if I grow too much, I can take over and block sunlight from reaching other plants.
That affects biodiversity and reduces oxygen levels – not great for anyone.
That’s why I get carefully trimmed three times a year here at the lake. A special mowing boat helps keep me in check.
This way, I stay helpful – not a hindrance – even for swimmers and boaters.
