Our lake tales the blog
Tales and moments, mysticism and magic
History or stories? Dream or reality? The boundaries between reality and fiction blur almost imperceptibly. The cuckoo murmurs, the pine whispers, the little brook gurgles. And they all tell stories of their experiences and fantasies. Around the Wolfsgrubner Lake.
Why we love November. Even when it challenges us.
Running a hotel means making decisions. Some are easy, others take courage. Keeping the Weihrerhof open throughout November definitely falls into the second category.
KlausWhen the days grow shorter, morning mist settles over Lake Costalovara and the hiking trails slowly become quieter, a very special time of year begins for us.
As hosts, we love these weeks. As business owners, we also know that November isn't an easy month. Fewer bookings, shorter stays and costs that keep running all the same.
So why do we do it?
Because we believe a holiday doesn't always need sunshine, a packed schedule and as many experiences as possible. Sometimes it's quite the opposite. Time for a good book, a walk around the lake, a sauna overlooking the water. And perhaps simply having nothing planned at all.
We want to show our guests that South Tyrol is beautiful beyond the traditional holiday seasons, too. At the same time, we want to offer our team the opportunity to work together for as long a season as possible.
Will it all add up? We'll see. We try new things, learn along the way and question our own assumptions. Because a family-run hotel is about much more than numbers. But the numbers still have to work.
The German online magazine Eingecheckt spoke with us about exactly this balancing act between running a business, being good hosts and creating meaningful holiday experiences. The result is an open and honest article about our thoughts, our challenges and why we believe that sometimes, less really is more.
