Hike as far as your sense of wonder takes you

Peaks in your heart, forests on your mind. And countless paths under your feet—300 km, to be precise. But who’s counting when it’s emotions that move us!
Between leisurely rambles and vigorous hikes there are plenty of shades in between: if you love walking, you’ll love the Ritten. This hiking plateau in the heart of South Tyrol stretches like a broad ridge between the Talfer and Eisack rivers. Just as extensive is the dense network of trails leading through forests, up to summits and to lakes. Excellent signage and waymarking mean you can always shorten or extend your route on a whim—with map in hand—depending on how you feel that day.

The absolute highlight—in every sense—is the Rittner Horn at 2,259 m, with a 360-degree panorama of South Tyrol’s mountain world that leaves everyone speechless. The panorama circle helps the geographically inclined identify the name of each peak. Beyond the Rittner Horn, two more summits are within hiking reach: the Sarner Scharte and Mount Villandro in the Sarntal Alps.

At the foot of the Rittner Horn and the Schwarzseespitze, there are so many hiking destinations that we’ll share just five shorter suggestions we particularly love. We’re happy to help you choose the routes that are just right for you.
