Grass Snake

I love warming myself in the sun – it helps me get going.
But my true home is near ponds and lakes. I'm a passionate swimmer, and that’s why I feel right at home here by Lake Wolfsgrubner.
When it gets too hot and dry, I really need to cool off. I also enjoy eating amphibians like frogs and toads – they need wetlands too. But if these areas dry up due to climate change, they can no longer survive there. And I can't find enough to eat.
Birds of prey and foxes, unfortunately, love to snack on me. That’s why I always have to stay alert.
But I have a clever trick up my sleeve: if things get dangerous, I play dead to outsmart my enemies.
